Despite the challenges that our industry saw in 2020, it also proved to be a catalyst for growth, innovation, determination and community. For Motif Labs, 2020 was the year that we emerged as an industry leader in cannabinoid extraction, marking several notable milestones along the way as we continued to develop our team and technology to better serve and support the cannabis industry.
In May, we received our Standard Processing license from Health Canada and commenced operations out of our 12,500 sqft production facility in Southwestern Ontario. Following that, we announced a number of supply agreements with LP’s, providing formulated oil specifically designed for cannabis-infused edibles. To close out the year, we completed our first shipment of formulated cannabis distillate to New Brunswick-based Stewart Farms, and signed a series of manufacturing agreements with thrid party brands, including the popular United States-based cannabis brand, Spherex.
Today, only a few weeks into the new year, we are thrilled to share our next milestone with you. Motif Labs has received an amended license from Health Canada, signifying the Canadian government’s approval and vote of confidence in Motif to manufacture and supply a variety of finished Cannabis 2.0 products directly to Canada’s provinces and territories – including vaporizers, topicals, and tinctures.
Effective immediately, Motif will begin producing and white-labeling finished products for Licensed Producers and third-party brands across the country, opening up an additional revenue stream for our company. This also paves the way for us to exercise our expertise and creativity, allowing us to work with brands that are looking to diversify their product portfolio and increase their market share in the industry, and by bringing a number of disruptive Cannabis 2.0 products to market.
We are excited to continue supporting the evolution of Canada’s cannabis sector and growth of retail. Built on a foundation of extraction excellence, Motif leverages three key components to efficiently and consistently support its partners; focus, intention, and scale. In doing so, we hope to continue producing high-quality, consistent cannabinoid extractions for our partners, while bringing new and exciting products to the Canadian market in the year ahead.
