Stairway to Success

Sample & Testing:
By implementing rigid protocols for sampling and testing on all incoming cannabis and non-cannabis ingredients, Motif Labs is able to maintain full compliance through quality assurance from the beginning of the sales cycle all the way through the end of brand fulfilment. The company also works closely to advise clients on techniques that could reduce their overall testing costs. Extract Terpenes:
Next, they apply a CO2 extraction process which creates products with a full spectrum terpene and cannabinoid profile. Extract:

Winterize:
Following the extraction process, the cannabis is “winterized”. Crude oil is mixed with alcohol and cooled to below -80°C to ensure maximum wax and lipid precipitation. By separating all these undesirables, Motif sets the stage for the next steps of the purification process.
Filtration
Motif’s filtration method employs a dual stage, cooled filtration technology. This ensures that the winterized mixture maintains exceptionally low temperatures the entire time the product is being filtered. By doing so, Motif can remove more wax than most extractors and improve the overall purity of the final product
Solvent Recovery:
While ethanol is important in the purification process of creating a fine oil, it is best to avoid leaving it in the finished product. Motif’s solvent recovery technology can remove more ethanol than leading competing technologies. It also removes ethanol at a significantly higher rate, while also exposing the oil to less temperature degradation than other extraction companies in the industry. By implementing a unique, and cost-effective process, the company can reduce the overhead costs of production and pass those savings directly to the client.
Distill:
When the winterization process is complete it is time for the final purification step, distillation. Motif purifies oil to a 95% cannabinoid potency. This results in a less noticeable aroma and flavour profile while producing a quality distillate oil.
Formulate:
After the distillation process, Motif will work with the client to determine what works best for their brand and blend to a high degree of accuracy, whether blending: terpenes, various cannabinoid ratios or diluted tincture and edible oils.
